Huacheng Temple, the first temple built in the mountain, is at the center of Jiuhua Street. There are Lotus Peak to the south, Dongya Cliff to the east, Shenguang Ridge to the west and Mountain Baiyun to the north. The four mountain surround the temple. There used to be a huge old bell weighed more than 5,000 kilograms. Today only a brass bell that weighs 1,000 kilograms remains, it's about 2 meters in height, which was elegantly made during the Qing Dynasty. The tone quality is just fine, when the sun is setting , clouds dispersing, the brass bell begins to ring forth grand peals, together with the humming sound of monks reading sutra. Glim shine in the street, where filled with rataplan, the sound of wooden fish and reading sutra. It enriches the charm of the buddhist country. At the begining of a year, the bell rings 108 times, representing 12 months, 24 solar terms and 72 traditional seasons, and prays for a safe and sound year without misfortune to come.
