Lake Khuvsgul

  [edit this]

Located in the north part of Mongolia, Lake Khuvsgul is the deepest lake (up to 262 m/ 860 feet) in Central Asia, and one of the largest sources of fresh water – containing between 1 and 2 % of the world’s fresh water. Lake Khuvsgul is known as the "Blue Pearl of Mongolia", because of its crystal blue water. It is full of fish, such as lennok and sturgeon, and the area is home to argali sheep, ibex, bear and moose, as well as over 200 species of birds. The region also hosts three separate, unique peoples: Darkhad Mongols, Buryats and Tsaatan. Spectacular views overlooking Lake Khuvsgul await you.

Yoliin Am

  [edit this]

Yoliin Am (Canyon of Yol) was originally established to conserve the birdlife in the region, but it’s now more famous for its dramatic and very unusual scenery – it is a canyon, stuck in the middle of the Gobi Desert, with meters-thick ice almost all year around. In winter, the ice is up to 10 m/32 feet high, continuous down the gorge for another 10 km/16 miles.
You are sure to marvel at the splendor of its sparkling streams that appear amid the huge cliffs.

Gobi Desert

  [edit this]

The Gobi Desert is understandably very sparsely populated, but the desolate landscape is a home of many rare and endangered animals such as wild ass (khulan), bactrian camel (two-humped), Przewalski's horse, saiga antelope, snow leopard, mountain sheep, gazelle and the world’s only desert bear – the Gobi bear. The appropriately named desert warbler and the saxaul sparrow hide in the saxaul shrub, the only species of shrub, which can flourish in the Gobi.
In this mysterious and fascinating area, dinosaur skeletons and their petrified eggs have been preserved for many centuries.
Breathtaking desert terrain is one of the most popular destinations in Mongolia

Terelj National Park

  [edit this]

Terelj National Park is located southeast of the capital city 80 km away. This is the nearest fascinating destination with an abundance of sights including wild flowers, rock formations and mountains. At 1600 m /5250 feet, the area is cool and the alpine scenery is marvellous. To the northeast, the park joins onto Khentii Mountains, which is almost completely uninhabited but is home to endangered species of moose, brown bear and weasel, to name but a few, and to over 250 species of birds.
For the magnificent view of the entire area, you can take a ride to nearby Khentii Mountains.

Khustai National Park

  [edit this]

Khustai National Park is an area distinguished by a landscape of treeless steppes. You may see some of the wildlife, such as the Asiatic red deer, black-tailed gazelle, corsac fox, wolf, but the park is best known as the home of the Przewalski's Horse (Mongolian wild horse or Takhi). This unique species is more closely related to the zebra than a horse and obscure stripes can be seen on its hindquarters. There's a good chance of seeing them in the evening, as they graze close to the camp. The area is perfect
