This pavilion, with very delicate carvings, was built in the Song Dynasty (420?479 ) and rebuilt in the age of emperor Jiaqing Reign in the Qing Dynasty (1616?1911). In the center of pavilion there are two steles on which carved two celestial beings each, one is Chen Tuan, the other is Lu Dongbin. Once upon time two celestial beings often played chess here. One day a woodcutter was passing by and was attracted to have a look. When the woodcutter backed his village after the end of one round, no one could recognize him. Later the folks knew from his dress he was a man lived thousands years before. And this also produced an idiom: A while of one round of chess in celestial being land, is one thousand year on earth. This story indicates that Huqiu is a place even suitable for celestial being to live. There are also two couplets in the pavilion, one is, it’s not a real dream when dreaming of dreaming; the other is, Finding reason in the reason is the reason.
