Quyang stone carving

    Quyang has long been named “The Hometown of Carving” at home and abroad. Early in the Han Dynasty, Quyang stone carving artisans have taken part in many major projects, such as the ten important buildings, the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and so on. Among the rich kinds of Quyang stone carvings, they are historical, ancient and modern figures, birds and beasts, fishes and flowers, decorated archways and other ornaments in courtyards and rooms. The carvings are beautifully shaped, smooth and lifelike; they are well sold in more than 70countries and districts in the world. At present in Quyang, there are 1,000 carving factories with all kinds. There are a number tens of thousands of carving artisans; the total annual output value is over RMB 100 million yuan. Yangping Economy Developing Zone which is rich in marble recourse covers an area of 10 square kilometers, at present it has absorbed the capital of RMB 200 million yuan, and established 58 enterprises of stone carving and slabstone processing. Tianjiyun, who is the vice head of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, wrote an inscription for Yangping Economy Developing Zone “Oriental Stone Carving Town”.
