Panshan Mountain Scenic Area

Otherwise known as “Sizheng”, “Wuzhong” and “Panlong” Mountain, Panshan Mountain Scenic Area whose ancient name was “Xuwu Mountain” is 12 kilometers northwest of Jixian County.
This is the famous AAAA-grade scenic resort and historic site in China, which just like a long brocade screen, stands to the east of Beijing and the north of Tianjin, is known as the “first mountain to the east of Beijing” both at home and abroad, also is cited as one of the ten landscapes by the exclusive sight:“Evening Rain Winding Mountains” and is ranked as one of “the fifteen places of interest in China”.
??By historical record, the Panshan Mountain was first built in the Han Dynasty, flourished in the Tang Dynasty and reached its limit in the Qing Dynasty; it is a touring resort which is famous for its natural mountains and waters and is marked by its Buddhist temples and imperial gardens. The emperors, generals, ministers and men of literature and writings visited here back and forth in the history. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty came here thirty-two times, wrote 1366 poems to sing the praises of the Panshan Mountain and left the exclamation like this: “if I had known the Panshan Mountain earlier, no need to the south”.
Because the Panshan mountain is typical of “sphericity weathering”, traveler can see the unique scenery of plentiful strange peaks and craggy odd rocks. As for vegetation, the mountain is covered by coenosium of Chinese pines and communities with mixed Chinese pines and cork trees. With different scenes during four seasons. It combines quiet forests, ancient caves, peculiar peaks and elegant waters in one, and now resumes to open its five major scenic sections and more than 130 scenic spots, of which “Sanpan”, “five peaks”, and “eight rocks” are most renowned. “Sanpan” means three spots famed for its waters at the lower part, rocks at the middle, and pines at the top respectively. As for “five peaks”, they are Guayue, Zilai, Zigai, Jiuhua, and Wujian.
The Hanging-moon Peak, the Panshan Mountain's main peak, is as high as 864. 4 meters above sea level.Three passenger cableways named Panshan Mountain, Pine-in-cloud and Hanging-moon have come into use, by which tourists can reach the Hanging-moon Peak.
