     It is said in Huzhou there were two brothers Zang Kui and Zang Ning who had filial piety and served their mother for ten years. One day the elder brother Zang Kui fell sick for overwork and poor living condition. At night he then recited the title of Kwan-yin?and dreamed of a person in white pricking with a needle on his ears and he recovered right at once. The two brother?one was good at painting and the other at carving. They made a wish to draw a picture of Kwan-yin, but didn’t remember her appearance clearly. One night Kwan-yin appeared again in Kui's dream, still in white. He at once got up and wrote down every detail from his memory, and finally made a fair solemn, kindly figure which arouses respect of people. Every one saw it thought it good and called it “Dreamed Kwan-yin”. Gradually the figure became popular.
