People who belive in buddhism go on pilgrimage in groups. If the number surpass a hundred, the activity is called “Baizi meetng”, if surpass two hundred, it is called “double Baizi”, if less than one hundred, it is called “a small Baizi meeting”. The pilgrims all wear gray coats, green trouses and yellow aprons with characters pilgrimage on. They climb the mountain on foot led by their head. On the way they beat gongs and sing songs of praise to it, and they kowtow at every temple. The activity is at its peak on the birthday of God of Earth. It is very honorable for one to stay all night along at the Corporeal Body Hall that night. There are some other pilgrims who go to pay homage to their dead parents. They wear the clothes of the dead ones, bearing the hope of getting the stamp of the God, legend in buddhism has that one who has the stamp will have the privilage of going wherever he wishes in heaven. |
