Making Pilgrimages on New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve, the inhabitants there either stay up late watching TV, or entertain themselves after the reunion dinner till midnight. When it struck zero o'clock, the whole family or the representative rinse the mouth, clean the face, then light the firecrackers and go out to the Corporeal Body Hall(or to the temples which is nearest), taking the incense sticks and fireworks prepared beforehand. In the pilgrimage-making process, they don't talk even to friends untill they are back at home. They pray for a safe and smooth new year to come. It is most auspicious to burn the first joss stick. Now making pilgrimages on New Year's Eve has become the custom there.
