Tujia people respect local gods very much, which consists of ancestors, kitchen god, earth god, Tima and so on.
Being offered on the altar or in the holy shrine, ancestors are considered to be a powerful god of ability to shelter. As kitchen god, it is said to be the most hones.
God that never tell a lie and is usually serviced in the shrine together with ancestors. Tujia people are always asking their children to learn from kitchen god to be honest and loyal.
Earth god is offered in the earth temple where meat, fish, apples and pears display on the first day of every new year or other festivals. Tujia people fall on their kneels to pray for good harvest or happiness before it.
Tima is the leader of Tujia people in ancient time. It is also the symbol of saving, worshiped piously by Tujia people. |
