Travel to Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, covers an area of 243.6 sq.km and has a population of 1.5 million. It is has a population of 1.5 million. It is the seat of the Federal Government and was declared a Federal Territory on 1 February 1974.

From its modest beginnings as a small settlement at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, Kuala Lumpir developed into a thriving centre for the tin trade in the 1880's Today, the city has evolved into a vibrant and bustling metropolis with a fascing skyline of old world pre-war edifices dominated by modern and sophisticated skyscrapers. Despite its urban environment, Kuala Lumpur retains the ambience of a garden city with its attractive landscaping, lush greenery and extensive public parks.

Travellers will find Kuala Lumpur a fascinating destination for sightseeing, culture, shopping, recreation or nightlife. The city possesses a unique charm and appeal of its own.

Shopping buffs will be delighted to discover a host of affordable and exceiting buys at both modern shopping malls or open air bazaars.

A tempting variety of delectable local and foreign cuisine can be enjoyed at any time of the day and night. Explore the numerous food courts, fine restaurants other eateries to discover the gastronmic delights of the city.

While in Kuala Lumpur, one should not miss the opportunity to take in the interesting sights and sounds of the city. The best way to gain an insight into KL's colourful past is to take a walking tour of the city, beginning at its signature landmark, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. This building which overlooks the Dataran Merdeka or Merdeka Square, is a popular spot for those who would like to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. From there, other well know spots in the city such as the scenic Lake Gardens, Deer Park, K.L. Butterfly Park, National Monument, Parliament House, National Museum, Istana Negara (Royal Palace), Central Market and Chinatown are within easy reach. There is indeed so much to see and do in Kuala Lumpur.
