Hangzhou Qiantang River Bridge spans the Qiatang River from south to north to connect the major railways between Shanghai City, Hangzhou City and Lingbo City, Zhejiang and Jiangxi Provinces as the vital communication link. The bridge was commissioned on 8 August, 1934 and opened to traffic on 26 September, 1937. It was designed by Mao Yisheng, a great Chinese engineer. And it was the first such bridge, the double-decked bridge ever built by the Chinese. Pagoda of Six harmonies commands a broad view of the Qiantang River Bridge just like a rainbow above the river creates magnificent scenery. |
