The procession to greet guests in the style of Tang Dynasty consists of a courtier, court ladies, maids of honor, flag-holders, and guards. It reproduces a graceful ceremony of greeting foreign envoys, who would present themselves before the emperor in the Huaqing Palace, over 1,300 years ago. To the ancient music, 8 flag-holders come up followed by the courtier who holds an imperial edict and greets the distinguished guests. Then six beautifully-dressed maids of honor will lead the guests. Some of them hold a palace lantern and the others hold a bronze mirror. With graceful gait, young maids will present the guests with litchi while the dancers greet the guests with their marvelous performance. |
