In the regin of Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, there used to be five towering old pines. The Lion Forest Garden was popularly known as the Five Pines' Garden. Later the trees were gone. During the reign of the Nationalistic Republic the Beis purchased old pinus bungeana zucc, planted them in the garden and hung a commemorative table reading,“the Five Age-old Pines' Garden”.
