King of Chicken in China

The special geographical environment and the fine climate condition contribute Guangde to becoming one of the origins to produce fine poultry. It is listed by Ministry of Agriculture among the 161 places where high-quality domesticated fowls are produced. In addition, it has the reputation as “King of Chicken in China”. The chicken here is easy to feed, and it also has a strong resistance to disease. Moreover, its eggs are big with thick shell, its meat is tender, and the soup is delicious. It is becoming one of the important props of territory economy.

Tea

The tea garden in Guangde County covers a total area of 35,000 Chinese acres, with annual production of 2,800 tons and annual profit of 25,000,000 Yuan.

The climate and the soil condition in Guangde County are suitable for the tea trees to grow. The annually average temperature here is 14.50℃, and the annual rainfall is 1,300mm. The mountain range fluctuates with fog winding around the mountain. Besides, it has rich vegetation and fertile soil. The tea quality is naturally outstanding. The tea was famous both in China and abroad in history. “County Annals” recorded: it produced tribute tea since Ming and Qing Dynasty. In 1915, “the Fog Tea in Guangde” participated in the International Panama Exposition, having the honor to receive the gold prize. In 1988, the tea experts combined the traditional process and modern science and technology to develop the high-quality tea——“Taiji Yunhao”, which was rated a top quality product by province.. “Taiji Yunhao” looks good, smells good and tastes good. It completely conforms to the standard of pure natural organic foods.

In recent years, Guangde County has vigorously promoted the producing technology of non-environmental-damage tea, and has formulated detailed “Non-environmental-damage Tea Production Technology Regulations”. In 2002, “Shuangling” Tea received the authentication of non-environmental-damage agricultural product in the first batch. In 2003, “Taiji Yunhao”, “Ci Shan” and “Jun Bao” followed. At present, the area of non-environmental-damage tea garden amounts to 10,000 Chinese acres.

“Scarlet Gown” Chestnut

The chestnuts are mainly produced in the town Xinghan and Baidian of Guangde. The chestnut from Jinjilong Village of Xinghan is the most famous. It is big and delicious and tastes fragrant. Generally, each one weighs more than 20 grams. It is brightly purplish red with beautiful appearance. If it is roasted with chicken or meat, it will be delicacy at the banquet. It can also be made into chestnut thick soup or sugar-fried chestnut, which has a distinct flavor.

The chestnut from Jinjilong Village of Xinghan had always been the tribute since Qing Dynasty. It is said that the first time Empress Dowager Cixi saw this kind of chestnut, which is round and red shining, she fell in love with it. Pointing at the convoy official, she smiled and said, “The chestnut is brighter than your scarlet gown”. Therefore, it won the name “Scarlet gown chestnut”, which is even used till today.

Bamboo Shoots

Guangde is one of the ten biggest bamboo townships in China. It has many bamboos and bamboo shoots. However, the bamboos from Mountain Jishan are the best. The mountain is in the Scenic Spot of Lu Lake. There the soil is fertile and thick. Therefore, the shoot has thin shell but thick meat. It is crisp and sweet. Besides, it is big, with a golden body and beautiful outlook. The canned food made from the mountain bamboo shoots sells in distant markets everywhere.
