| | Olive Fruit [edit this] | | Another name of olive is “Green Fruit”. For most fruits, they are green in the beginning and then change into other colors when they ripen. However, the olive never changes its color, and is also called “Faithful Fruit” and “Reproof Fruit” as its special taste of “bitter comes before the sweet” is similar to the character of faithful counselors in ancient times. Overseas Chinese call it “Fortune Fruit” to show their nostalgia, or it is so called because it is mainly produced in Fuzhou. There are over 10 varieties of olive fruits in Fuzhou, including Dingxiang Olive, Tanxiang Olive, Huiyuan Olive, Changying Olive and Yangshi Olive. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
