| | Zhongshan Park [edit this] | | In 1926, the park was initially built in the center of Xiamen downtown area in commemoration of Dr.Sun Yat-sen and his spirit of “the Whole World as One Community”. That is also the origin of the park's name. The park had experienced serveral ups and downs until 1983 when the city government appropriated special funds to rebuilt and fit it up so that it takes on new looks to visitors everyday.
The main scenic spots in the park include :
The four main gates each presenting a particular style in the four directions. The one in the south is the most significant.
Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Monument. The monument is 20 meters high and was inscripted with “the Whole World as One Community”.
The grand and respectful standing bronze statue of Dr.Sun Yat-sen.
Kuixing Hill, Kuixing River, Liaohua Brook and the many booths, pivalions, stages and bridges forming a pleasant and joyful traditional Chinese painting of mountains and waters.

| Mountain Tianzhu Forest Park [edit this] | | Located at the state-owned Mountain Tianzhu Forest Farm in the northwest suburbs of Xiamen City, Mountain Tianzhu Forest Park is 36 kilometers from the downtown and covers an area of about 2,600 hectares. The forest coverage reaches 96.8%, and masson pine is the main arboreal species. Tianzhu Peak, the highest peak, has an elevation of 993 meters. There are five man-made lakes, big and small, among which Xitou Lake is the biggest one. The cliffs are spectacular, the scenes of the lakes and mountains are beautiful, and the places of cultural interest enjoy a long history. | Xiamen Natural Reserve for Rare Marine Species [edit this] | | Covering 330.88 square kilometers of the sea area of Xiamen City, the country-level Xiamen Natural Reserve for Rare Marine Species is a major habitat for lancelets——Class B Wild Water Animals under Prior Protection of the State. Lancelet is of a typical species between the invertebrate and the vertebrate and of great significance in the research of animal evolution and the teaching of zoology.
Chinese white dolphins (Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins) Conservation Area
It extends northward from No.1 wharf——Songyu, 35 square kilometers of western sea area southward from Gaoji Seawall, and 20 square kilometers of sea area on the line of Zhongzhai, Wutong, Aotou and Liuwudian at the mouth of Tong'an Bay, with a total area of about 55 square kilometers.
Egrets Conservation Area
It includes Dayu Island, Jiyu Island and their beach areas. It primarily protects the Ardeidae birds such as Chinese Egret, Reef Heron, Egret, Large Egret, Intermediate Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Chinese Pond Heron, Grey Heron, Cattle Egret etc and their natural living environment.
Lancelets Conservation Area
With a total area of 63 square kilometers, it includes four sea zones of Huangcuo, that from Nanxian to Shibaxian, Xiaodeng Island and Crocodile Island. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
| Jingzhou Park [edit this] | | Jingzhou Park is in southeast Xiamen Island. The park is surrounded by mountains in three sides and faces the sea.
Jingzhou Park is an European styled garden and a modern amusement center as well. The park was officially opened in July 1995. Now the “Taiwan Flok Custom Village” has opened too. The village is located along the golden beach and surrounded by the sea and hills.
In addition to various theme exhibition including butterfly, exotic stone, root carving, miniature trees and rockery, orchid, dinosaur and peacock, visitor to the village can also enjoy traditional acrobatics, singing and dancing by ethnic groups from Taiwan and have a full understanding of Taiwan culture. It is the only village that shows the folk custom of Taiwan in Mainland China.

| Mountain Huli Fortress [edit this] | | As a selected national cultural relic protection unit, Mountain Huli Fortress is situated at Mountain Huli Seacoast on the southern tip of Xiamen Island. It covers a total area of over 70 thousand square meters and over 47 thousand square meters of fortress, with appurtenant works of secret passages, ammunition depot, barracks, government official hall, watch hall on the peak, electricity power well, sewage system etc. The whole fortress is constructed in the form of half bunker and half wall, with a tint of European style and architectural style of Ming & Qing Dynasties of China. The two Krupp cannons (only one in existence) of Mountain Huli Fortress manufactured by Krupp Arsenal Germany in 1893 were both priced at about 80 thousand taels of silver.
