| | [edit this] | | Located in the middle and south part of Guangdong Provnce and hinterland of the Pearl River Delta, Foshan City is called “Chan” for short. With a long history, Foshan is a famous historical and cultural city. In 628, the 2nd year of Taizong's reign in the Tang Dynasty, three statues of Buddha were unearthed on Tapo hummock, hence the name “Foshan”. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, it was one of the four famous towns in China.
