| | Nanning People's Park [edit this] | | The Nanning People's Park covers an area of more than 500,000 square meters. Following 141 steps up to the top of the Wang Xian slope, you will find an old two-storey stone stronghold called Zhengning emplacement, which was constructed by Lu Rongting, a former warlord of Guangxi. A cannon gun made in Germany in 1890 is positioned in the emplacement. Under the gun, there is a corridor of stone tablets. Looking down, you can have a bird's-eyeview of Nanning, which reminds us of the old stories of the city.
In the south of the Wang Xian slope, there peacefully lies a beautiful and clear lake. According to “Records of Scenic Resorts” by Wang Xiangzhi in the Song Dynasty, Di Qing, a famous general, and his troops stationed on WangXian Slope. Once he looked down from the slope and saw a flock of white sheep by the lake and they were in the shape of a dragon, hence the name of Bai Long Lake (the White Dragon Lake). The lake is surrounded by green bamboos and willows. In the middle of the lake, there is an island, connecting with the land by two bridges located in the west and the north of the island respectively. One is called the Nine Bends Bridge and the other is called the Moon Bridge. Some boats on the lake are drifting happily in the sunshine and others are staying silently in tree shades, presenting a charming scene of the park. | Edit by: Tom | |
