Situated in the northeast of China, Heilongjiang Province is the utmost northern province with the highest latitude compared with the other provinces in China.
In ancient times, it was named “Heishui” in Chinese or “Sahalian Wula” in Manchu language. “Sahalian” corresponds to “hei” in Chinese and “wula” to “jiang”, so the name was changed to “Heilongjiang” in the early Qing Dynasty.
Heilongjiang Province is well known to the world for its dense forests, wonderful snow scenery, rare wild animals and special culture. Its resources in ice and snow rank first in China. There are unique views like “wood-sea and snowfield”, glacier and rime, ice carving and winter swimming. Besides, there are about 100 large ski yards. Harbin, Daqing and Yichun are the cities with strong northern frontier flavor. Mohe City is the northernmost town in China, which is called “North Pole Village in China”.
