| | Drum Watchtower [edit this] | | Also called Qiao Building, people usually call it Clock Drumtower. Originally it was located above the main gate of Guangde bureau.
Drum Watchtower was built in the Northern Song Dynasty (1067), and had two stories. There is a drum laid in the duplicate building, as well as an eave, a clock, and an Hourglass. The arch volume below is 4.3 meters. It suffered from damage because of chaos caused by war in Yuan Dynasty and was repaired in the 4th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. The tower was destroyed in the war at the end of the Qing Dynasty. The drum, eave, clock, and Hourglass were all missing. In 1926 gentleman Zhan Jiapeng contributed money to repair three buildings according to the original design. In 1937, Japanese bombed it. It was completely destructed, with only the gallery left. In 1999, this building was repaired and the former days' original condition was restored. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
| Bamboo Sea [edit this] | | The scenic spot consists of vast bamboo groves between Lu Lake and Ganxi, lying in the mountainous area south of Guangde. It is 10 kilometers from the county. The size of Lu lake water surface reaches 3,000 Chinese acres with green hills all around and the lake water is clear like mirror. Water winds in the mountain range, peaks being observed in the mirror. In spring and summer, wild flowers on the lake bank are brilliant and fragrant; in fall and winter, pine and bamboos on the hills are green and energetic. The best time for traveling is in May when azaleas are in full bloom, looking like colorful clouds covering the land. The sea of bamboos covers the top of peaks. Deep valley, thick bamboo forest together with running streams, how grand the view is! Rowing a boat in the lake, or fishing on the lakeside, or birdviewing on the top of the mountain or just wandering in the bamboo forest, no matter what you are doing, you can enjoy the beauty of nature. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
