Badaling Section of the Great Wall is at Yanqing County, about 60 kilometers north of the downtown of Beijing.
Here the Great Wall zigzags like a dragon over mountains and valleys, linking up beckon towers and forts along the way. Badaling Section, with its elevation being 1015 meters, its walls being 7.8 meters high and 7.8 meters wide at top, is the outpost of the important pass of the Great Wall-Juyong Pass. It has been a military must for armies in all times due to its very dangerous geological position and fortified defense capacity. Moreover, Badaling Section is the most perfectly preserved part of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty.
