The landscape of Taining World Geopark is mainly Danxia landform and there are also granite landform landscape and human landscape. The Danxia landform starts from Tiancheng Rock in Longhu Town in the North, runs through Shangqing Stream, area just outside Taining County, Mountain Dushu and Jiziding to the southeast and then turns southward to Mountain Mao'er, Longwang Rock, Baixian Cliff (Dayading) and ends in Long'an Town. Four red basins namely Shangqing Stream, Golden Lake, Longwang Rock and Baxian Rock form an inverted V shape, 34 kilometers from the north to the west and 29 kilometers from the south to the north, covering a total area of 215.2 square kilometers. On the whole, the ground rises gradually from the northeast to the southwest. Dayading area is the highest Danxia landform, among which, Baxian Cliff (Dayading) with an altitude of 907.6 meters is the highest peak. Dayading area is also typical for peak and pillar landform development. There are five scenic areas in Taining World Geopark, including Shangqingxi Scenic Area, Taining Ancient City Scenic Area, Golden Lake Scenic Area, Longwang Rock-Baxian Cliff Scenic Area and Mountain Jinrao Scenic Area.

Sanyuan National Forest Park is a national AAAA grade scenic area and a provincial nature reserve. Its main scenic spots are located 20 kilometers southwest of Sanming City, covering an area of 14,100 mu. Sanyuan National Forest Park has the largest natural Kawakamii forest in the world, over 80% of which are Castanopsis Kawakamii (a kind of rare tree). The nature reserve boasts more than 50 types of trees and such wild animals and birds as sambar deer, flying squirrel, black bear, pangolin, Silver pheasant and bamboo partridge.

Nine kilometers away from Yong'an City, Peach Spring Cave is a mountain resort in Danxia landform. It was called Peach Spring Cave (Taoyuan Cave) since Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, and now is a national-level AAAA-grade, key tourist resort as well as a geopark of China.

Peach Spring Cave, which is also favored as “Small Wuyi”, covers an area of 28.78 km2. It is made up with rigid purplish-red thick gravel-sand terrain effloresced and eroded by the underground water, while the terrain had been accumulated from the late period of Cretace to the Red Stone Group of Third Age. That is why there are so many fantastic scenic spots like marvelous peaks and crags, green forests, old trees, blue waters and red hills,. Tourists can easily see 100-150 metres' long cliff and “A-rift-of-the-sky” in the area.

Ninghua Swan Cave Group is a national geological park located near Hucun Village which is 28 kilometers east away from Ninghua County. Ninghua Swan Cave is actually a cave group. It is so called because the shape of the mountain is extremely like a swan and the stalactites inside the cave are as white as swan.

The Swan Cave is one of the most representative karst caves in the cave group. It is 1.5 kilometers in length with 3 layers, upper layer, middle layer and bottom layer, 7 cave halls and 49 scenic spots. The cave is dotted with numerous stalactites and “stone bamboo shoots”. A 40 meters high “stone waterfall” pours down from the top. And there are delicate stone corals and vivid “seven fairies” stalactites.

Mountain Ruiyun Tourist Area is a national AAAA grade scenic area located in Chengda Town which is to the northwest of Sanming City. The tourist area is 14 kilometers away from the downtown Sanming. It covers an area of 10 square kilometers with a highest altitude of 1,249.8 meters. It combines unique volcano rock landform and variety of evergreen broad-leaf forest landscape. The major scenic spots include Ruiyun Cave, Bat Cave, Gold Cave and Longevity Spring, etc.

Ruiyun Cave is 30 meters in length, 60 meters in width and over 4 meters in height. The cave is like a lion opening its mouth wide. The wall at the cave's opening is like being cut with knife. There are several stone carvings inside the cave. The scenic area is covered with green trees, boasting 192 types of plants belonged to 31 families. The towering trees are wreathed with ancient vines, like dragon flying and dancing in the mountain, which is a big feature of this scenic area.
