| | Mingxiu Square [edit this] | | With a landscaping area of 15,600 square meters, Mingxiu Square, situated in Mingxiu Eastern Road, Nanning City, is actually an open belt-like park, marked with Nanning's unique scenery and culture. The whole square is 263 meters long and approximately 60 meters with a planting area of 11,563 square meters. In the center of the square is the biggest musical fountain in Guangxi, which is about 200 meters in length, 38 meters at its widest part and 5.2 meters at its narrowest part, covering a total area of 1,875.47 square meters. | Minsheng Square [edit this] | | Located in the northern bank of Yongjiang Main Bridge in downtown Nanning, Minsheng Square is one key part of the urban flood control system and the construction of Dyke & Road Park project. It is built at the same level with the top of the flood dyke, covering an area of about 90,000 square meters and composed of two parts of elevated platform and river-bank park. At dusk, walking along the brilliantly lit-up boulevard, visitors can enjoy the night scene of the Yongjiang River, the coolness of the wind blowing from the river, and the music coming from the music fountain. | Longzhou Nonggang Natural Reserve [edit this] | | Nonggang Natural Reserve lies among Zhubo, Wude, Shangjin villages in the middle and north Longzhou County and connects Jinlong Town on the north. It has a total area of 101 square kilometers, with an average altitude of 400 meters and the highest elevation of 700 meters. There are 30 peaks a square kilometer on the average, and 80 at most. Its forest coverage is 70 percent. In 1980, it was listed as a state natural reserve. Up till now, it is the biggest and best-preserved karst landform reserve in China.
The reserve is rich in flora and fauna. It is home to 1,282 kinds of plants, 123 species of animals, 439 species of insects and over 100 species of fungi. Some rare plants particular to the reserve include Camellia chrysantha tuyama, bsienmu, Garcinia paucinervis, Cephalomappa sinensis, Deutzianthus tonkinensis, Parashorea chinensis etc. and rare animals include white-headed leaf monkey, Froncois' leaf monkey, macaque, South China tiger,clouded leopard, zibet, masked civet, snub-nosed monkey, serow, preceded spot hornbill, and red jungle fowl, etc. In the reserve, there is a 48.5-meter-high and 3-meter-round bsienmu. It is 2,000 years old and the biggest in the world.
The reserve is of high value for scientific research and tourism. In 1997, a scenic spot named King of Bsienmu was developed, and a road was simply built so that visitors could get access to the spot, admire the bsienmu and appreciate the ceremony of original inhabitants offering a sacrifice to the holy tree. | Edit by: Tom | |
| Mingxiu Park in Wuming [edit this] | | Once a private garden owned by Lu Rongting, a senior official in Qing Dynasty, Mingxiu Park is now one of the three famous parks in Guangxi, covering an area of 28,000 square kilometers. The park is surrounded by water on three sides, like a bottle gourd in shape. Old trees reach high up to the sky, blotting out the sunlight, under which spread small queer rock peaks, ancient pavilions and houses. Some major constructions include Bieyoudongtian Pavilion, Hefengyi Pavilion and the stone armchairs and benches carved from natural rocks. | Longyan Park in Litang [edit this] | | Located in the industrial town of Litang in Binyang County is Longyan Park, where there is a Longyan Cave, whose 10-meter-high entrance looks like a sleepy yawning dragon, hence the name. And with ten years' development, the park has formed its own cultural theme. Covering a planned area of 300 mu, the park provides travel services and amusement and leisure activities.
