The renowned Wuqiao Acrobatic World is located in the southwest of Cangzhou City. It has been designated a 4-A tourist spot by the state.

Wuqiao's acrobatics can be traced back to the Qin Dynasty when it was called “jiaodi game”. In the Han Dynasty, it was called “baixi game”. Acrobatics has always been popular with the local people. One local folk rhyme explains it all: “all the people including the 99-year-old senior ones and the toddlers are good at acrobatics.” With many outstanding acrobats, Wuqiao is known as the “cradle of the world acrobatic arts”.

Wuqiao Acrobatic World was built in 1993. With the incorporation of folk customs, performances, recreations and exchanges, the charm of acrobatics can be viewed here. There are eight main spots including the Jianghu Culture City, the Acrobatic Palace, the Magic Palace, the Acrobatic Custom Garden, and the Funny Zoo. In Wuqiao Acrobatic World, you can enjoy the history, magic and power of acrobatics.

Cangzhou's martial arts originated in the Sui and Tang Dynasties and later flourished both in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This area has produced many martial art masters of 52 sorts of martial arts. With this legacy, Cangzhou was honored with the title of “Home of Martial Arts” by the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports in 1992. It was the first time that such an area was best owed with this title.

The old saying—“with taijiquan, one makes the society peaceful; with the baji boxing, one makes the country stable”—indicates how rooted the martial arts a re in Cangzhou. In fact, the founder of the baji boxing was born in Cangzhou's very own Mengcun County.

There have been many local martial art masters well known in winning honor for the nation in the contests against foreign fighters. In Shanghai in 1903, Wang Ziping defeated fighters from the United States, Great Britain and France. After his victory, Mr. Qi Baishi-a famous master of traditional Chinese painting excitedly wrote him a congratulatory verse with the following words: fighting against the tiger in the southern mountain; driving away the dragon from the deep pool.

The local martial art masters have contributed a lot to the development of this ancient practice in China as well. For instance, Zhang Zhijiang, a general in Kuomintang's army, militantly advocated saving the nation with healthy armies when he was in charge of the central Wushu Academy in 1928. There were over one hundred teachers and students from Cangzhou.

Since the founding of New China, the martial arts-one of the outstanding national cultural heritages has flourished. There are increasingly more sorts of martial arts being practiced and refined in CangZhou. Both the baji boxing and the pigua boxing have been listed among the top ten traditional boxings whose skills and routines are accepted in the martial art contests and are publicized inside and outside China. There have been many martial art talents trained by Cangzhou Physical Education School, Cangzhou Martial Art Academy, and Mengcun Baji Boxing International Training Center.

Being close to the sea, there are over twenty rivers that merge into nine around Cangzhou. With a total water storage capacity of 480 million cubic meters in rivers, reservoirs, lakes, pools, ponds and canals, there are many wetlands in Cangzhou, among which the Nandagang Wetland is the most famous.

Situated at the end of the Bohai Bay, the Nandagang Farm Reservoir is a typical coastal wetland. It is one of the natural areas under the protection of Hebei Province. The altitudes of both its highest part and lowest part are respectively of 54 meters and 2.9 meters above sea revel. Among the vegetation, 90 percent are reeds. Besides, there are over 60,000 trees forming a 10-meter-wide and 30-kilometer-long tree belt around Nandagang.

It is an ideal place where migratory birds temporarily pass through. Bird watchers rejoice, for there are 168 species of birds in the wetland, among which some are very rare birds under the protection of the state. These include the red-crowned crane, white crane, white-crowned crane, white stork, bustard, swan, etc. To protect the birds, there is a channel around the reservoir so as to preserve enough water for the vegetation, fish and birds. The wetland is extremely beautiful in summer, when you can feast your eyes on the beauty of Chinese nature.

At the lower reaches of the Baiyangdian Lake, the Qianlidi Section of the Baiyangdian Lake is located in Renqiu, northwest to Cangzhou City. It is also 130 kilometers south of Beijing and 120 kilometers southwest of Tianjin. With an area of 64.8 square kilometers, it is varyingly beautiful in different seasons-one can see birds flying and fish swimming in spring, lotus blooming in summer, reeds weaving in autumn, and ice covering the lake surface in winter. Here are examples of the kinds of scenery you can see at the lake: lines of willows along the bank, date woods at sunset, lotus perfume spreading over the lake, moonlight over the lake, peach blos soms in the moonlight, and beautiful sunset. Also, both the Maozhou Temple and the Bian Que Memorial Temple are nearby.
