Situated at Midwest Hebei Province, Baoding City is reputed as “southern gate of the capital”, as it lies 240km east of Tianjin, 124km south of Shijiazhuang, and 130km north of Beijing.
Baoding is the hometown of Yao, with a history of more than 3,000 years. It was called Baodinglu in the Yuan Dynasty, and Baodingfu in the Ming Dynasty. It was also the place where Zhili Viceroy's Office was located in the Qing Dynasty. It became a famous historic, cultural city and open city with the approval by the State Council in 1986. Now it is a municipality under Hebei Province. It is abundant in tourism resources such as famous West Cemetery, Xiadu Site of Yan Dynasty, Mancheng Graves of Han Dynasty, Beiyue Temple, Zhili Viceroy's Mansion, and Ancient Lotus Pond.
