Generals Ridge, whose original name was Miaopo Ridge, lies to the north of Chi'an Village, Shexian County. Since 1986, the bone ashes of Marshals Liu Bocheng and Xu Xiangqian, Generals Huang Zhen, Li Da, and Wang Xinting have been scattered on this mountain, hence the name “Generals Ridge”. In October 1990, Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name for the ridge. This is the place where most marshals and generals of PRC were buried only next to the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing.

Around the mountain runs a 27-kilometer-long, dragon-shaped canal, which is called Zhangnan Canal. It was dug by the officials and soldiers of the 129th Division, together with the local people during the Anti-Japanese War. Shexian people call it “Life-Saving Canal” or “Generals Canal”. Until now, a folk song is still being sung to commemorate the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army. The local people also built a “Siyuan Pavilion” and a 12.9-meter-high monument beside the canal. On Generals Ridge, many numbers have a connection with the number 129. Walking up 129 stone steps from the foot of the mountain, you will see a pavilion in honour of Marshal Liu Bocheng, Which Covers an area of 180 square meters. Below the eaves hangs a horizontal board inscribed by Deng Xiaoping, on which were written “Marshal Liu Bocheng Memorial Pavilion” In the center of the pavilion is a sitting granite statue of Liu Bocheng. Tablets are flanked on each side, on which is the memorial speech for Liu Bocheng and his life story respectively. Walking through the pine trees, you'll see Marshal Xu Xiangqian Memorial Pavilion after climbing another 129 steps. You’ll reach the peak of the mountain if you continue to climb 129 steps. The entire Generals Ridge is surrounded by forested mountains, covering an area of over 6,000 square meters.
