Xingtai Gorges are 70 kilometers west of Xingtai City.

Being a wonderful site in Mountain Taihang, the group consists of 24 gorges. Eight of which are over 1,000 meters long. The names of the gorges explain it all: the Ghost gate Moat, the Woxia Gorge Bow, the Yunya Sprays, the pure springs and so on. Huangchao Gorge, a main one in the group, is a steep valley. It is over 4,000 meters long and 200 meters deep. It is several meters wide, while its narrowest part is only about ten centimeters wide. Looking upward, you can only see a thin ribbon of sky. Due to its difficulty to get to, this gorge had been one of the bases of the outlaw peasant army led by Huang Chao in the late Tang Dynasty. In addition to the ancient city walls, the drill ground and the plank road, several local villages, temples and rocks remind you of the stories of the uprising. Besides, the arms plant, the clothing factory and the paper mill of the Eighth Route Army headquarters used to be located here.

The charm of the gorges can be well described in the following scenes: steep gorges in groups with high mountains on either side, high peaks rising one after another over the gorges, and beautiful waterfalls. There is a wonderful waterfall under the Huangchao Rock. Instead of straightly felling down, it twists around from a pool on the top of the cliff and splashes about. You can even go under the waterfall and feel refreshed at the sounds of the water and wind.

The Yellow Turbans Strongholds is located in the middle section of the 1,062-meter-high Mountain Lingxiao, 35 kilometers away from Xingtai City.

The Yellow Turbans Stronghold was the origin place of the Taiping religion and the outlaw Yellow Turbans Uprising Army. In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Jiao from Julu, Xingtai, created the Taiping religion on Mountain Lingxiao, By recruiting heroes and common people, he raised a vast army fighting against the corrupt ruling class. You can see many buildings and places used by them, for instance, the platform used in calling the muster roll of officers, the drill ground, the camp, the tunnel, the Minjin Cave, the octagonal pavilion can still be seen. The water dungeon where Zhang Jiao's army had ever punished the corrupt officials, the local tyrants and evil gentry is also in the area.

Mountain Yunmeng is located to the north of Shibanfang Village, 66 kilometers to the west of Xingtai City. Its highest peak has an altitude of over l,300 meters. In the surrounding woods, there are over one hundred species of rare animals. You may feel as if you were in a big teapot when entering the scenic spot, for you can see nothing but the precipitous cliffs about and a round sky overhead. So, it is also called “Teapot Fairyland”. Some of most wonderful places to visit are the nine pools and eighteen waterfalls. There are the following spots: Longyin Gorge, Zhenjiao Stone, the Eagle Dwelling Waterfall, Wuchan Cave, the Top Teapot Sky, the Middle Teapot Sky and the Bottom Teapot Sky, the White Dragon Brook, Zhuidan Cliff, Mancui Slope, Raogui Cypress, Jiyou Stream, Liujiao Waterfall, Longyin Waterfall, Huanyao Waterfall, Bibo Waterfall, the Immortal Path, the Red Millstone, the Immortal Footstep, the Lecture Cave and even more.

Mountain Yunmeng was the very place where Gui Gutze, a famous Taoist priest, practiced Taoism and taught his students in the Warring States period. Among his students, some were very distinguished such as Sun Bin, Pang Juan, Su Qin, Yue Yi, Mao Sui, etc. When saying some Taoism Words and phrases in the Lecture Cave, you can hear your voices vibrated which sounds as if Gui Gutze's students were reading aloud.

Mountain Zhangguolao is 15 kilometers to the west of Xingtai City.

According to a Tang Dynasty's stone tablet on it, the mountain was formerly named Mountain Wufeng. Zhang Guo, a Taoist priest from Guangzong County, practiced Taoism here in the mountain and became one member of the Eight Immortals. Li Longji, an emperor in the Tang Dynasty, was crazy about the Taoism and regarded Laotze as his ancestor. He conferred immortal old Man upon Zhang Guo, renamed Mountain Wufeng and the cave where Zhang Guo had lived respectively as Mountain Xianweng and the Xianweng Cave. “Xianweng” means “immortal old man” in Chinese. And the Emperor had a temple named Qixia Temple built for him. Later on, in the Ming Dynasty, the Xianweng Cave was regarded as one of the eight main scenic spots in Xingzhou City.

There are many pines and cypresses on the mountain. Surprisingly, there is a strange tree called “Kumeng” on the hillside, which looks 1ike either a tree of heaven or a pagoda tree. It blooms only at dawn on the eighth day of the third Chinese lunar month when there is a temple fair. When the fair is over, the flowers will wither away, which makes it very mysterious. The flowers of the Kumeng tree smell sweet and are healthy. So, the tree is regarded as a treasure of the mountain.

You can enjoy yourself by visiting the Access-to-heaven Bridge, Qixia Temple, the Eight Immortals Cave, Zhangguolao Cave, the White Deer Cave, and the statue of Zhang Guolao's fairy donkey.

The Qinwang Lake is 30 kilometers west of Shahe City and 50 kilometers away from Xingtai City.

There are many wonderful peaks and gorges forming beautiful scenes together with the lake. In particular, the “three gorges, four valleys and fifty spots” are typical of the beauty around the lake. The Lion Peak, Qinwang Peak, the Mother-and-Son Peak, the Lotus Peak, the Monk Peak, Wucang Peak, Laojun Terrace, Qiquan Temple, the Taihang Flume are some of the lively names of the places in the area. Qinwang Lake was the very place where the troop of Prince Qin fought against Liu Heita's uprising army in the late Sui Dynasty and early Tang Dynasty. They had fought against each other for three whole days. Later on, in order to honor the officers and men who died in the battle, Prince Qin ordered one of his officers to construct the Qiquan Temple. Taihang Flume, a project built in the 1950s to bring water up the mountain, also runs through the mountain.
