Zhuozhou is only 59 kilometers away from Beijing. It is a new tourist city featuring entertainment, bodybuilding and vacationing, and an excellent tourist city in China.

The stories in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms are very familiar to the Chinese people and circulate among the people. The birthplace of the culture of the Three Kingdoms is Zhuozhou, the hometown of Liu Bei and Zhang Fei. “Liu Bei, Guan yu and Zhang Fei swore to be Brothers in the Peach Orchard”, one of the much told tales in the culture of the Three Kingdoms, happened here. The later generations built the Three Brothers Palace in Lousangmiao Village, the hometown of Liu Bei. The palace was first built in the Sui Dynasty, and was renovated in the Jin, Yuan and Ming Dynasties. The architecture in the palace has the typical style of the Han Dynasty. Guan Yu's famous tablet of “Bamboo in the Wind and Rain” is displayed here. There are many sites such as Zhongyidian Village (the hometown of Zhang Fei), Zhang Fei Well, Zhang Fei Temple, and the ten thousand mu of peach orchard where Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei swore to be brothers. These are valuable wealth for the later generations to study and appreciate the culture of the Three Kingdoms. And that's also the reason why Zhuozhou has become one of the world-famous touring destinations of the culture of the Three Kingdoms. Zhuozhou Film and TV Center, also called Zhuozhou CCTV Filming Base, lies to the east of the Zhuozhou section of Beijing-Shijiazhuang Expressway and there is a special exit. It covers 2,200 mu, and consists of the Tang City, the Han City, Tongque Terrace, and the imperial palaces in the Qing Dynasty and the scenic area of siheyuan. Besides, there are four residential areas, namely, Plum Garden, Peach Garden, Bamboo Garden and Pear Garden, as well as two l,200 sqaure-meter studios. Of them, the most special one is Tongque Terrace, 26 meters high and Covering an area of 13,000 square meters. On its left is the Yulong Terrace and on its right Jinfeng Terrace. It was modeled on the Tongque Terrace built by Cao Cao in the period of the Three Kingdoms, a spectacle to display the style of ancient architecture. Since 1991, parts of the scenes of more than 2,000 films or TV plays have been filmed here, such as the historical TV play episode “the Tang Emperor Minghuang”, “Wu Zetian”, “The Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, “To Burn the E'fang Palace” and “Wencheng Princess”, the puppet show “Miraculous Valley” and the contemporary films “Mao Zedong, the Founder of the State” and “The Battle Deciding China's Fate”.
