Jade Emperor Cave

  [edit this]

Jade Emperor Cave is a grotto in Mountain Makong 8 kilometers west of Zhangjiajie City. It has been put down on the list of the important historical sites to be given special protection of Hunan province.

The grotto was founded by Li Jing, a country gentleman. The 300-meter-long cave has 3 levels and consists of 8 caves. There are 19 stone carved statues and over 50 stone carvings. The cave is so far the best preserved grotto of Hunan Province. The top level of the cave is called the heaven enshrining the statue of the Jade Emperor; the second level is the Earth with six separated caves; the third level is so called the Hades. The three levels are connected steeply on the cliff.

Admission fee: RMB ¥ 8 per person
